Jumping The Wall

{June 8, 2009}   Walking the Walk

DSC02430 At midnight on Saturday, I joined 1200 other women to walk 9 miles for our local hospice in Lancaster.

At about the 3 mile mark, my dodgy right hip (I’ve had a clicky hip since birth – quite common and natural in women apparently), decided to give up the ghost. I felt like I’d been kicked hard & it was very painful. Me being me though, I decided to keep going at the pace set by the friends I was walking with. At the 8.5 mile mark I was sick as a dog with the pain & decided to go home rather than back to the hospice, as home was closer!

Anyway, I completed the 9 miles and am very grateful to my sponsors. The weather was great and so was the atmosphere, so I’ll definitely sign up for next year, but I’ll be walking at my own pace, however slowly that might be.

Just a few weeks until Race for Life now & another chance to get out the pink wig. x
